About Me

When I was little, my mom used to take me to school with her. You see, she was a kindergarten teacher (in another country) without a babysitter. So from the age of 2, she would plop me to the side of the room with some coloring books and toys, and she would go on about her business teaching 5 year olds.

Here's a conversation I've had with my mom:

"But mom - seriously - what did I do all day? Didn't I get antsy?"

"Oh no," my mom replied with a gleam in her eye. "You quickly learned to help the other kids that were older than you!"

Teaching is something that I have been doing from a very young age - literally. I love my job. How many people can really say that? Sure - it has it challenges and frustrations. Ok, a lot of challenges and frustrations, but every day is different and unique and gives me the opportunity to help a child learn. I love to make learning interesting and exciting, and the more engaged the kids are - the more excited I get about recreating those learning experiences. I want my students to love learning!

I have been teaching fifth grade for ten years now. You know - the big kids in the elementary school building. The kindergarten teachers shake their head at me as our class walks by mouthing the words, "I don't know how you do it." That's okay - I repeat the same thing back at 'em!

I have learned a lot of things along the way, and I have a lifetime to go. I'm a wife, mom,
teacher, and now blogger. I'm excited to share some of my ideas and resources!
